IM Adel Faridani (USA) took first place in the WZ GM tournament # 5 obtaining his second norm and therefore the title of World Zone Grandmaster. He had earned his first norm in the WZ GM tournament # 1.

Adel Faridani was born July 22, 1957. He is married. Received his Diplom in Physics in 1982 and his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 1988 from the University of Münster, Germany.

Faridani conducts research in numerical analysis, investigating problems arising in signal processing and tomography.

He has become a regular participant in correspondence chess tournaments since 2013, with 49 wins, 56 draws and still undefeated. His latest great achievement was sharing first place in the 6th NAPZ Championship.
